Dixons Carphone to shut down 130 outlets in favour of new superstores

Dixons Carphone has said it is shutting more than 130 stores under plans to roll out new electrical superstores over the next year and a half.

It says it will relocate staff to the new shops which will combine PC World, Currys and Carphone Warehouse under one roof.

It is not yet known which, if any, Irish stores are affected.

Meanwhile, the group announced a "strong" performance over Christmas.

It has said like-for-like sales in Ireland and the UK were up by 5% in the 10 weeks to January 9.
