CSO figures show drop in unemployment in last 12 months

The numbers of people out of work has fallen significantly in the past year, according to the latest figures from the Central Statistics Office.

Our overall unemployment rate now stands at 8.6%, down from 9.8% in March of 2015.

In the past 12 months just over 23,000 people said they no longer needed the Job Seekers

Allowance.

Last month alone saw nearly 3,000 people opt to sign off the Live Register.
