Amazon chief Jeff Bezos looking to give away some of his fortune

Amazon chief Jeff Bezos wants to give away some of his fortune, and is asking the public to help him do it.

The online giant's chief executive took to Twitter seeking ideas for a philanthropic strategy that would "be helping people in the here and now - short term - at the intersection of urgent need and lasting impact".

By Friday morning, the tweet had more than 18,000 replies, 6,000 retweets and 11,000 likes.

Many of the replies were multiple tweets - or "threads" - by individuals laying out detailed ideas to help Mr Bezos with his plan.
