Clare’s victory on Saturday made the perfect occasion for the launch of Davy Fitzgerald’s new Ennis pub.
Situated on Abbey Street, The Dugout is jointly-owned by Fitzgerald and Waterford’s Reading striker Noel Hunt.
The pair struck a friendship during the Sixmilebridge man’s time as Waterford manager when the team trained at the Berkshire club’s grounds.
However, as much as the likes of former Clare star Niall Gilligan and well-known GAA sponsor Martin Donnelly were in attendance to support the event, Fitzgerald insisted on his players having a quiet night in.
With a qualifier now just five days away and a 10am get together yesterday morning, he said: "They won’t be going out tonight (Saturday) — they know the story."
