ICMSA demand over food safety

ICMSA leader Pat O’Rourke has called on the EU to ensure that food safety is a priority when the World Trade Organisation talks resume.

He said EU producers operate to the highest standards of safety in delivering quality food to the consumer with a considerable cost.

But this quality produce is being undermined by cheap food imports, which do not have to meet the same high standards.

“As a result, this undermines EU food producers and puts the health of consumers at risk.

“This will have to stop,” said Mr O’Rourke.
