Readers blog: Time for Ireland to once again adopt positive neutrality

Three million armed US troops transiting through Shannon airport on their way to wars in the Middle East ended Irish neutrality, unjustifiably and recklessly.

Now we need to restore Irish positive neutrality and focus our efforts in promoting international peace rather than shattering it.

Repeated opinion polls show that up to three quarters of Irish people support the restoration of Irish neutrality.

Positive neutrality means making peace, not war.
