PlayStation VR approaches 1m mark

Sony has sold 915,000 units of PlayStation VR since the device was launched in October 2016, as revealed by PlayStation chief Andrew House in an interview with The New York Times.

The sales were better than expected for the period and set Sony on the path to achieve its goal of selling more than one million PlayStation VR units during the first six months of release.

Sony experienced PSVR unit shortages in the UK during the period, and has commited to increasing production to meet demand whilst also improving support for developers who create PSVR games.

Sony expects around 100 new PSVR to be released by the end of 2017.
