White on time again

Waterford United dropped two valuable points in the race for promotion as both sides finished with 10 men.

The visitors went in front on 23 minutes when Paul McVeigh whipped in a right-wing cross that found the head of the unchallenged Matt Harkin and he powered an unstoppable header past a helpless Packie Holden.

After scoring the winning goal against Longford Town at Flancare Park, Peter White levelled the scores on 28 minutes when Gary Dempsey whipped in a superb corner that found the head of his unmarked midfield partner and he notched his fourth goal of the season with a neat header from close range.

Referee Jim McKell reduced Finn Harps to 10 as midfielder Aaron O’Hagan picked up his second yellow on 68 minutes.

Blues defender Craig Burns was sent off in the final minute for a foul on keeper Ciaran Gallagher.
