Samba stars steamroll Team GB

Rising star Neymar sent out a warning to Brazil’s Olympic rivals as Team GB learnt just how tough their medal quest will be after going down 2-0 to the tourists last night.

The 20-year-old striker turned in a classy individual display as Mano Menezes’ men eased their way to a 2-0 win at the Riverside Stadium.

Tottenham midfielder Sandro headed the visitors into a 12th-minute lead before Neymar converted a 35th-minute penalty after Micah Richards had tripped Porto frontman Hulk.

Meanwhile, Manchester City wrapped up their pre-season training camp in Austria by beating Turkish side Besiktas 2-0.

An outstanding goal from captain Vincent Kompany was the highlight of the night as City, fielding a decent side featuring the likes of Yaya Toure, Carlos Tevez and Pablo Zabaleta, warmed up for the new season. Sergio Aguero curled in the opener moments before the break.

Elsewhere, Queens Park Rangers continued their south-east Asian tour with a 5-0 hammering of Malaysian side Kelantan FC.
