O’Neill on target in USA U20’s win

Cork-born Shane O’Neill was on the scoresheet as the USA warmed up for next week’s U20 World Cup with a 3-1 victory over Portugal in the Algarve last night.

O’Neill, the son of former Cork GAA star and double All-Ireland winner Colm, came on as a substitute at half-time and scored just six minutes into the second half.

Although born in Midleton, the big defender was brought up in Colorado and plays for MLS side Colorado Rapids.
