Jose Mourinho was unhappy his side failed to take full control of their Champions League clash with CSKA Moscow as they conceded an injury-time goal to hand the Russians a lifeline.
"We had the chances to score a second goal," said Mourinho after the game. "I’m frustrated but it is not a bad result. I am not happy but I am not too sad either. It happened to us last year in Lyon and we got through to the quarter-finals then."
Pontus Wernbloom made Real pay for a string of misses as CSKA pinched an improbable draw when they looked certain to head to the Bernabeu behind in their last-16 tie. Wernbloom scored in the third minute of stoppage time at the end of the match, canceling out Cristiano Ronaldo’s first-half strike.
There was a certain symmetry in how the equalising goal went in, as twins Vasili and Aleksei Berezutski were both involved in the build-up, having both been at fault for the opening goal, driven in by Ronaldo under goalkeeper Sergei Chepchugov after 28 minutes.
Alan Dzagoev provided a cross from the right, Vasili Berezutski headed the ball towards the back post and his brother nodded across goal for Swedish midfielder Wernbloom to lunge in and score.
