OUR football correspondent LIAM MACKEY is back in top form and full of energy.
He casts his eye over your comments and gives his own critical analysis of the goings on throughout the world of football.
You may agrewith him or then again you may not.
This week worry anctics going on at Old Trafford; Chelsea still three points clear despite crisis; Wenger the new Perry Mason; Wenger right on Van Persie injury; Six billionairies set for Utd takeover; Giggs Personality of the Year and he hasn’t got one; Johnson joined Pool to play CL football; Gran’s return to the Bridge; Wigan’s goal of the season; Barca and Madrid same old story; Takeover West Ham.
The Letter of the Week goes to Derek Turner, Clonmel.Get in touch with your postal address and our magnificent prize will be winging its way to you before you know it.
ONCE again, after another defeat for Manchester United, (the fifth this season without scoring a goal) Sir Alex complains about the officials (not enough injury time played), although he was gracious enough for once to give due credit to Villa.
Chelsea had drawn with Everton therefore giving Utd a massive incentive to win the game and draw level at the top. So Fergie decides to play with one up front in as home league game?
Then to compound matters, he leaves the totally inept Park on the pitch. The continual stream of stories emerging in the media about the club’s precarious financial position is worrying. After the departure of Ronaldo and Tevez, Fergie needed to buy a couple of genuine class players to replace them.
It is no coincidence that the spin from Fergie back in the summer about him not "seeing any value in the transfer market" was wheeled out again this week in light of the events surrounding the club pulling out of the deal to sign young Serbian Adam Ljajac.
I think the majority of Utd fans know the true circumstances around the club's finances and find this spin is falling on deaf ears. On the pitch, Ferdinand's injury is in all probability career-threatening at this stage and I would be amazed if he is playing next season.
Selling Pique to Barcelona was a big error I felt at the time, and even more so now in light of all the recent injuries. The midfield lacks creativity and is still relying on veterans Giggs and Scholes which is not a good sign. Carrick is a shadow of the player he was 18 months ago and his game is regressing. Anderson still flatters to deceive and Nani and Park are not good enough.
The jury is still out on Berbatov. Rooney is scoring goals but his general game has been poor this season..
I believe if Fergie does not sign at least one or two players in January, United will fall short this season.

OUR SHOUT: You make a lot of good points, Derek - enough to earn you our Letter of the Week prize - but I don't think you need have any fear that United won't be "staying in touch with the leaders" going into the New Year. It always amazes me how a bad result for a top team instantly becomes a gateway to Armageddon. Anyway, there are no invincibles at the top of the Premiership just now which may come as a shock to the faithful but is good news for everyone else. Meantime, here's a man with a bit of perspective...
