For the most part, they were given a stern examination by Pool B whipping boys Heriot’s, who arguably produced their best form of the campaign to make life difficult for Munster after the home side enjoyed a remarkable start with 15 points in as many minutes.

It wasn’t as if Munster were ever in trouble — far from it — but the dogged resistance of the Scottish side allied to a plethora of their own handling errors made it a harder evening’s work than necessary.
