Time to take a Stroll

Tommy Stack’s Romantic Stroll is a token nap choice in the Irish Stallion Farms’ EBF Fillies Maiden at Roscommon tonight, on a card that offers punters no cause for optimism.

The daughter of Oratorio has a modest rating of 68, which is 7lbs below likely favourite, Reaching, but still looks the one to beat.

She is well drawn and suited by making the running, so may take plenty of catching over this sharp seven furlongs.

Her latest outing was over a mile in testing conditions at Listowel nine days ago. Romantic Stroll tried to make all, but had no more to offer from the furlong pole and was beaten four and a half lengths into second by Jessica Harrington’s well-regarded, One Fine Day. At least she faces nothing as good as that winner here.

Dermot Weld has turned to Ruby Walsh for El Toreros in the Sean Naughton Auctioneer Maiden Hurdle and the combination get the vote.

El Toreros has been performing moderately on the flat of late, but has one piece of form over flights which entitles him to the vote now. That came in a Grade 2 at Leopardstown at Christmas, when finishing fifth behind His Excellency, and a repeat of that effort will surely see him go close.

Pat Martin’s Sounds Of Thunder, beaten a length and a quarter by Beau Michael at Ballinrobe, might provide the solution to the www.roscommonracecourse.ie Handicap.

Beau Michael gave the form a little boost when runner-up behind Louisville Lip at Leopardstown on Friday night.

Cerveza Dinero, who won with a nice bit in hand at Limerick, could defy a 7lbs rise in the weights in the Abbey Hotel Roscommon Handicap Hurdle.
