Fame may go for glory at Longchamp

Fame And Glory will be on a retrieval mission if he lines up for the Prix Maurice de Nieuil over a mile and three-quarters at Longchamp on Saturday.

Aidan O’Brien’s smart stayer turned in a tame run to finish seventh behind Colour Vision when defending his Gold Cup crown at Royal Ascot.

Brown Panther also features among 18 possibles.

Last year’s St Leger second put a poor first run of the season behind him when scooting up by seven lengths at Pontefract recently.

Camborne was an emphatic winner of the Duke of Edinburgh Handicap at the Royal meeting and John Gosden’s rapidly improving four-year-old may jump up in grade here.

The in-form Newmarket trainer also has Thimaar engaged, but he was in action as recently as Saturday at Sandown.

The other British entries are the William Haggas-trained Harris Tweed and Times Up from John Dunlop’s stable.

Of the home contingent, top French trainer Andre Fabre can choose from three - Dance Moves, Brigantin and La Pomme D’Amour.

Alain de Royer-Dupre has entered Ivory Land and Shahwardi and Mikel Delzangles could be represented by Zack Hall and Vadamar.
