Down in class Demurely can get off the mark

THE progressive Aidan O’Brien-trained Demurely can get off the mark at the fourth time of asking in the Croom House Stud EBF Fillies Maiden at Limerick tonight.

The daughter of Galileo makes a quick reappearance, having contested a Group 3 at Cork last Sunday.

She finished fifth of eight behind the impressive Sapphire on that occasion, beaten a little under ten lengths.

The selection ran prominently for most of the mile and a half journey and can now do the business, back in her own division.

Feature event is the Listed Martin Molony Stakes and O’Brien runs three, in what is a particularly open contest.

His Tower Rock has the highest rating, but was tailed off behind Backbench Blues at Leopardstown last time and is hard to face until returning to form.

It is to another O’Brien inmate, the lightly-raced Offer, that we turn to for the possible solution.

He ran as green as grass when narrowly beaten by the smart Hartani first time up at Tipperary and was then a 1-9 shot when easily winning a modest maiden at Navan.

On what he has achieved so far the son of Montjeu can hardly win, but it’s quite possible is a decent horse and the fact is being thrown into this sort of company so quickly may well be significant.

O’Brien also has possibilities with Battle Of Saratoga in the 8th July Beach Party At Limerick Races Maiden and Kingston Jamaica in the Irish Stallion Farms’ EBF Maiden.

At Down Royal, Willie Mullins is fancied to land a first and last race double with Letherbelucky and Pique Sous.

Letherbelucky made an excellent start over flights when cruising to victory at Punchestown and is the one to beat in the Medicare Mares’ Novice Hurdle.
