Quail takes flight in International

There was an upset in the Boylesports International at Dundalk last night when Quail Hollow made a flying start and defied catching to land the €20,000 prize.

The favourite Milldean Panther was moderately away from six and immediately had a mountain to climb. From the second bend only two dogs counted. Cabra Millie closed menacingly into the third bend but Quail Hollow shut the door at this point and gained further advantage. Cabra rallied on the run-in but Quail Hollow held her best efforts by a length in 29.76 while it was one and a half lengths to Milldean Tally in third.

The winner is owned by Tipperary native Kieran Lonergan who has been based for many years in Co Monaghan and was providing trainer Francie Murray with a third success in this prestigious contest.

The dog now heads for the Irish Derby at Shelbourne.
