Meadow hoping to be in clover

Curtis Cup heroine Stephanie Meadow will today bid to become the first Irish winner of the Ladies British Open Amateur Championship since Lilian Behan 27 years ago.

Success would also mean a quick-fire Irish double after Alan Dunbar’s win in the Amateur Championship at Troon. Ranked 20 in the world, Meadow plays 16-year-old Dorset schoolgirl Georgia Hall in the semi-finals this morning. And if successful will play the winner of the other semi between Spaniard Rocio Sanchez Labato and Perrine Delacour over 18 holes to decide the title. Yesterday Meadow disposed of Amy Boulden, the Welsh champion and France’s Ariane Provot, both by 2&1 margins. Home
