Lar in contention for Cork clash

Lar Corbett looks set to be included in Tipperary’s squad for the Munster SHC semi-final in Pairc Ui Chaoimh on June 24.

Former Hurler of the Year Corbett ended a four month self imposed lay-off from the game last month but was not included in the match daypanel for the Premier county’s first round victory over Limerick on May 27.

However, Tipperary boss Declan Ryan yesterday revealed the Thurles Sars man will be part of his plans for provincial showdown with the Rebels.

“I’d say that’d be safe to assume,” said Ryan yesterday.

“He’s very fresh-looking, he’s in good shape. He’s been putting in a big effort in training and it’s good to have him around the squad.

“He’s been preparing very well and doing a good bit of work on his own. He doesn’t carry any weight so it’s just a matter of getting him up to speed and getting his hurling back to where he can compete at this level. It’s great to have him back in the fold.

“He’s been adding a lot to the squad since he came back and hopefully we’ll see him in action in the near future.”
