Spillane, a winner of eight All-Irelands, feels that Kerry failed in attempts to ape other styles.
“Over the last two years when Kerry couldn’t beat them at Kerry’s game, Kerry decided the approach to winning an All-Ireland was to adopt the Donegal style of football, the northern style of football and it wasn’t playing to Kerry’s strengths,” Spillane said, in Galway at a seminar in aid of the Alan Kerins’ African Projects charity.
