Murray triplets create history

Triplet sisters wrote themselves into the Ladies Gaelic Football history books in Birr last Saturday.

Aoife, Emma, and Katie Murray from Rathgormack played stellar roles in a famous Déise win and in doing so became the first set of triplets to win All-Ireland honours on the same day.

Daughters of Joe and Audrey Murray, the sisters, who were born on April 27 1998, are second year students at Greenhills secondary school in Carrick-on-Suir in county Tipperary, and are members of their local Comeragh Rangers club.

The helped captain Ciara Hurley, who kicked some late points and the Waterford full-back line, led by Niamh Power, seal the win.

Scorers for Waterford: K Murray 1-2, C Hurley 0-3 (1f), E Power (pen), C McCarthy 0-1 each.

Scorers for Cavan: G Smith 1-2 (0-1f), L Keogan 0-2 (1f), L Kiernan 0-1.
