McEneaney vacates Monaghan hotseat
He took over the position for the second time in October 2010 but following the loss to Laois, he admitted he had taken the team as far as he could.
“I have given it all I can. The job that has to be done now will take somebody else three or four years to do,” he said.
“I think it is time for somebody to come in and do that. I have given Monaghan 20 years as a player and a manager. I have done my level best.
“I am not a good loser and it is hard to take. I cannot thank all the lads enough for the effort they have given.”
