Dromore move into last eight

Tyrone champions Dromore made it safely through to the Power NI SFC quarter-finals with a 2-9 to 1-9 victory over Eglish at Carrickmore last night.
Conor O’Neill and Colm McCullagh eased Dromore St Dympna’s ahead, and when Niall Sludden finished off a move involving Ronan McNabb and Cathal McCarron for an 18th minute goal, they led by seven.Gregory Jordan slotted a couple of Eglish points, but the O’Neill Cup holders led by 1-5 to 0-3 at the interval.
O’Neill fired over his third point, and in the 43rd minute, they got a fortuitous second goal.
Paddy Montague took a free kick from 45m, and the ball bounced up, hitting the underside of the crossbar and ending in the net.
Eglish hit back with a Ciaran Colton goal, but the champions held on.
Omagh fought back to earn a 2-8 to 1-11 draw with last year’s beaten finalists Clonoe in a high quality tie at Dunmoyle. Clonoe raced into a seven points lead early on, with teenager Danny McNulty grabbing their goal, but at the break, they led by just a point, 1-4 to 0-6.
They lost midfielder Shane O’Hagan to a second yellow card two minutes into the second half, and fell behind to a Shane O’Neill goal on 40 minutes. But McNulty’s second goal sparked another flourish, and Conor McAliskey opened out a four-point lead.
However, it was Omagh who scored the last four points of the game, with Conor O’Donnell (two), Cathal McCarron and Barry Tierney all on target to send the tie to a replay.
Derrylaughan survived in a thriller at Coalisland following a riveting encounter which packed just about everything into 60-odd minutes of compelling combat.
The tie finally swung the Barrys’ way on a 3-11 to 2-12 scoreline, but not before their opponents had staged a stirring comeback.
Errigal Ciaran had to be patient and industrious in equal measure to see off Moortown 0-15 to 0-9 at Coalisland.
The experience of Enda McGinley was vital to the cause, while Peter Harte was a key man in the Errigal game plan, raiding from deep and setting up attacks which Tommy Canavan, Darren Canavan and Bryan Horisk turned into scores.
Errigal Ciaran led 0-7 to 0-5 at the break and McGinley, Harte and the Canavans all found the target in the third quarter as Errigal made it 0-12 to 0-6, and while Moortown fought back with scores from Damien Crozier and Kelly, the men from Dunmoyle saw out the game comfortably.
