England the team we all want to beat

The results of a recent Ulster Bank rugby study found that over two-thirds of us chose England as the team we most enjoy beating during the Six Nations, while, unsurprisingly, Brian O’Driscoll and Paul O’Connell were crowned the country’s greatest back and forward of all time.

The study, which took responses from every county in Ireland, saw the Irish pair win comfortably with 75% and 45% of the votes, respectively.

Interestingly, Irish Examiner columnist Ronan O’Gara was BOD’s closest challenger though way back on 8%, while fellow Munster man and Irish rugby legend, Keith Wood, was O’Connell’s nearest rival, taking 23% of the vote.

Potentially the most important statistic to emerge from the survey – for those in the Ireland camp at least – came in the form of a vote for Ireland’s best-looking player, with Leinster dreamboat Rob Kearney securing the majority vote (34%), while Ulster’s Tommy Bowe stole the hearts of 17% of those surveyed.
