Great gardens, colourfully planted over three-quarters of an acre are part of the attractions of this Woodville, Glanmire dormer home.
Located by the perimeter of Dunkettle, it is easily accessed by link roads or via Glanmire. It’s a four-bed with over 2,200 sq ft of space, and is in excellent order, notes agent Michael O’Donovan of Sherry FitzGerald, quoting an AMV of €425,000.
It’s set in the middle of its 0.75 acre site, with a south-west aspect, with a rear sun-room extension opening to the kitchen, with surrounding patios, plus there’s a detached, lofted garage alongside.
Planting around the gardens includes mature boundaries with conifers, heathers, camellias, pieris, holly, azaleas, and there’s lots of gently sloping lawn surrounding the home.
This Woodville home has a linked lounge/dining room 26’ by 14’, again a linked kitchen/sun room, a separate front living room, plus two ground floor bedrooms, one of them with an en suite, and there are bathrooms at either level, with two upstairs dormer bedrooms.
The house is in walk-in condition, once you negotiate the electric access gates.
VERDICT: House-build exterior is fairly maintenance-free, so there’s time freed up for gardening activity.

Some of the biggest, and better selling, homes built in the Ballincollig area are out at Greenfields, a minute off the bypass road and a short commute back to Cork city, with the way likely to be smoothed even more when the ring road flyovers are in service later this summer.
Among the biggest offerings here is 3 Woodberry, set on the main Killumney road fringing Greenfields, and it packs a lot of property punch for families looking to trade up. New to market with Norma Healy of Sherry FitzGerald, the six-bed No 3 has got 3,400 sq ft in all, with rooms over three levels, where the top floor/attic has been made over to a perfect den, with gym and games room. At first-floor level are six bedrooms, one of them en suite, plus a main family bathroom.
There’s almost as many rooms at ground-floor level, with entry hall with black and white tiled floor, a living room, study, lounge, playroom, kitchen/dining room with black granite tops on pine units, plus utility and guest WC. Brick-faced in front, and dashed behind, it’s got an exterior that will mellow with age, and the walled-in grounds of one-third of an acre include a detached garage, patio, lawns, and drive (past cast-iron gates with intercom access) with lots of parking.
VERDICT: A lot of home here, on every level.

A setting near The Lough in Cork City, with UCC also near to hand, but quiet, off the Glasheen Road — yep, just some of the reasons why 6 St Finbarr’s Park is going to get excited viewings.
Factor in the existence of a rear extension with pitched ceiling and roof lights, and the fact there’s four bedrooms, and you can bet that this new-to-market offering is a bit of a box ticker.
The older style semi-d has a €250,000 asking price with Darragh Taaffe of Keane Mahony Smith, who says the location is excellent, with lots of recreational activities by the Lough (a two-minute walk away) and that the house has kept many original features as well, such as hall floor tiles, stained glass in the front door, fireplaces, etc.
There’s a front reception room, a rear sitting room, guest bathroom, and a kitchen/dining room with dual aspect and overhead roof lights that gets excellent light, as well as a good attic room, adds Mr Taaffe.
No 6 has off-street parking, gravelled front garden, and mature back garden with secure boundaries, apple tree, sheds, etc.
VERDICT: Already a good bet, No 6 will shine up further in new ownership, with decor and modernising changes easily budgeted for as there’s already a rear add-on in place.

The allure of country club style comes with living on the grounds of Waterford’s period Faithlegg House — now an 82-bed hotel, with golf course designed by Paddy Merrigan, swimming pool and accoutrements to match, all on about 200 acres that includes 38 houses.
Now, one of those 38 homes, built in 2000, is up for sale with agents O’Shea O’Toole quoting an AMV of €550,000 for No 2, The Fairways.
The large, detached four-bed with exterior design embellishments, such as stone sills, window mouldings and interior design touches and some elegant wallpapers and decor, is on well landscaped grounds of almost half an acre. It has very good living areas, including a vaulted ceilinged 17’ by 16’ sitting room, a crafted kitchen with Stanley range and granite worktops, and other stone surfaces include the hall’s marble floor.
Two of the four bedrooms have en suites, all have built-ins, and the master bed also has a walk-in dressing room.
VERDICT: Great country and sporting lifestyle on offer for Waterford families on the move, only about five miles from the city centre off the Dunmore East Road.
