Cork eatery to rent for lovers of food

Calling lovers of good food, and old buildings — a city restaurant, which has traded as Casanova, is looking for a new tenant on flexible terms.

The atmospheric eatery dates to the early 1800s and is next door to the 12th-century St Peter’s church in the heart of Cork City centre, on North Main Street: the former church is now a significant tourist attraction and exhibition facility, operating as the Cork Vision Centre.

Casanova is a 70-seat restaurant, with most of the seating on the first floor, and the building’s renovation included new plastercasts of old ceiling features, done by a Moroccan artist, while other retained features are the very old sash windows.

Letting agent for Casanova is Cearbhall Behan, of Frank V Murphy & Co, who is seeking €30,000 pa on a new lease.

“We’d expect considerable interest due to the 70-seat capacity, the character and location of the property, and also the lack of restaurant and cafe units available within Cork City centre at present,” he says.

Details: Frank V Murphy & Co, 021-4271371
