Abortion laws did not cause death

The media have whipped us into a deeply emotional abortion frenzy.

Let’s pause for a moment; let’s think and make sure we know the truth.

Savita did not die because of restrictive abortion laws. Irish Medical Council guidelines are absolutely clear that doctors must do whatever it takes to save the life of the mother.

These guidelines partly explain whyIreland consistently has some of the lowest rates of maternal mortality in the world. Much lower than nations such as the USA and UK that have liberal abortion regulation.

International leaders in obstetrics and gynaecology, reporting in the recent Dublin Declaration on Maternal Healthcare confirm “…the prohibition of abortion does not affect, in any way, the availability of optimal care to pregnant women”.

Medical Council guidelines, UN reports on maternal death, cutting edge scientific consensus!

This is not opinion or religious conviction but easily verifiable fact. Ireland remains a global leader in maternal health. It ain’t broke, abortion won’t fix it.
