The Government’s jobs strategy is being unveiled today.
Job creation was the main election promise of both of the current coalition parties, so the strategy should provide a real insight into its the plans.
It will be on the implementation of these plans that this Government will ultimately be judged.
The jobs strategy should cover a wide range of areas from methods of informing the unemployed where suitable jobs are available to promoting self-employment.
It should involve exploiting a broad range of social, economic, cultural, recreational, and sporting assets.
The successful implementation of the strategy will require not only the proper functioning of different government departments, but also the cooperation of those departments and agencies.
The ultimate judgment of the strategy will, of course, have to await the success or otherwise of the plans being announced.
People are impatient for action, but today will inevitably involve a lot of talk and more promises, but it is a vital step.
