Cusack aids appeal for injured star

Tomorrow they compete in the All-Ireland JHC club final in Croke Park but last Friday night another notable event took place for Charleville GAA club.

Cork’s senior hurling captain, Dónal Óg Cusack, helped launch a major fundraising drive in aid of injured club player, Dessie Fitzgerald.

Last October in a Cork JAHC semi-final tie, Fitzgerald, who has represented Cork at minor and intermediate hurling level, sufferedserious spinal injuries during a game. He has since been in the care of the Mater Hospital in Dublin is currently in the National Rehabilitation Centre in Dun Laoghaire.

To assist Fitzgerald, the club are organising a Golf Classic in Charleville Golf Club on April 11 and April 13. The cost of a team of four is €300, with sponsorship of a tee or green costing €100.
