Wish List: Classic cups

Every week Esther N McCarthy scouts around for interesting pieces for your interiors. Today she discovers classic cups and Eastern influences.

Pic 1: The classic melamine cup from Rice — a fairtrade company, by the way — is a stylish staple for families of all ages , €4 for the plain coloured or with print pattern, € 4.95. The mug stand is also from Rice, so you’re saving space and looking good doing it. The stand costs €102, all available from The Pavilion Garden, Ballygarvan, Cork. www.thepavilion.ie.

Pic 2: Brighten up the dull evenings with the Rayware Brights tin canister set. This is a five-piece set that will pop some colour into your kitchen, €52 from Littlewoods.

Pic 3: Art meets pottery with the Scribble jar by Adam Frew. Adam’s work centres on the potter’s wheel. Traditional eastern forms inspire him, but he says spontaneity as a means of personal expression is key to his work. He works with coloured clays using a base colour and drawing into the clay’s darker colour as the piece breaks through. Featured on giveirishcraft.com, it costs €820, stockists include Leitrim Design House, (leitrimdesignhouse.ie/in-studio/) . Ardmore Pottery, (www.ardmorepottery.com) and An Clachan, Gweedore, Co Donegal (www.anclachangallery.com).

Pic 4: Just look at the detail on this gorgeous Chinese bedside locker, available from TK Maxx for the tidy sum of €99.99.
