Militaria sale in Limerick

A collection described by historical author Tom Toomey as “the most detailed account and listing of material that I have come across in all my research into the War of Independence in Limerick City” highlights the militaria sale at Limerick Auction Rooms next Wednesday at 11.30am.

Mr Toomey, author of The War of Independence in Limerick, 1919-1921, described the collection, focusing on the activities of “C” Company 2nd Battalion, as giving invaluable insight into all actions in the City area.

A detailed 25-page list detailing names, events and operations of “C” company is estimated at €500-€2,000. The sale of 293 lots includes an 1865-67 Fenian Republic of Ireland $10 bond estimated at €700-€1,000; a Colt London Navy revolver €600-€1,000 and a Hitler Youth brown shirt and trousers has an estimate of €600-€800.
