Trend of the week: Yellow

Hello sunshine! It’s almost summer and things are looking oh-so-bright, says Annmarie O’Connor.

INSPIRATION

While choosing the right one may prove challenging (see below for tips), finding it will most certainly put a smile on your face. Warm and stimulating, wearing yellow is thought to increase optimism and positivity in both mind and mood. Look good, feel good. Oh yeah!

STYLE NOTES

CLASH: Contrasting auxiliary colours (think cobalt, orange or green) prove unlikely (albeit perfect) partners, especially when rendered in super clean lines.

NEUTRALISE: Pair yellow with neutrals like cream, white, black, grey and mocha for a more considered approach to colour. Add some visual interest with a complementary shade like violet.

HIGHLIGHT: Use the hue to draw attention to a unique element of your look like a bag or belt.

JEAN-IUS: Layer this season’s yellow floaty dresses over a pair of fray-hemmed vintage jeans.
