Arts Life - Sharon McCarthy

A part of the Atlas collection by the German artist Gerhard Richter, one of Sharon McCarthy’s favourite artists.

What I do: I try to create paint-things as well as helping to organise other visual-art projects.

Favourite café: Gulpd, at Triskel Arts Centre, and House Cafe, at Cork Opera House.

Current listening: I have a very eclectic taste, but recently am listening to Emilie Simon, Vegetal, and Lisa O’Neill, Lisa O’Neill has an album.

The last gig I attended: Danú, in Dungarvan, last Thursday.

The last book I read: I am doing a research paper for my MA in art and process at CIT Crawford College of Art & Design, so currently I am reading all about paint, Gerhard Richter, Francis Alys and Alexis Harding.

My last trip to the theatre: Alarm Will Sound, performing John Cage’s Song Books, at Cork Opera House.

The last exhibition I attended: Futile as Regret: Limerick School of Art Graduate Selection, at the Tactic Gallery, Cork.

My favourite film: I can never remember any.

My favourite writer/artist/musician: Do I have to choose? — Gerhard Richter, Alexis Harding, Robert Smithson.

My favourite work of art: I’ll probably never have an answer for that question.

My favourite venue: It all depends on the event.

The writer/artist/musician I would most like to meet: All the artists I am researching for my paper.
