SEVEN Limerick friends will gather to wet the Shamrock on St Patrick’s Day in a city pub, clocking up thousands of flight miles in the process.
Anthony Gaffney, who lives in Limerick, has organised a reunion of old school friends.
Evan Haugh and Brian Weldrick will fly in from Melbourne; Dave Moylan and Tony Woods plan to travel from New York and Ray Tutty and Alan O’Neill will make it over from London.
The Magnificent Seven will gather on March 17 in O’Connell’s pub in Denmark Street.
Anthony said: "O’Connell’s is our favourite local and publican Ken O’Connell has been great in helping organise the long distance get together."
Alan O’Neill said it: "It will be absolutely brilliant to all get back home for St Patrick’s Day."
The reunion is part of a national competition being organised by soft drink manufacturers, 7UP, titled "Bring them Back for the Craic".
Seven groups of friends around the county have been chosen to take part in the competition and the Limerick group who call themselves the ‘Next Level Crew’ are close to winning the competition through votes on the website www.ru7up4it.ie.
Voting closes on Monday next.
