TWO private firms are said to be vying to run a new rail service between Waterford and Rosslare after transport chiefs agreed to close the line.
Campaigners from the Save the Rail Group said conditions attached to the order will clear the way for a community partnership to attract private investors.
The group claimed two firms have expressed an interest and it is confident that EU funding can be secured. It aims to use the example of communities in Wales where similar rail partnerships have been put in place.
