Fans snap up tickets for return of the Mac
Just after 3pm yesterday promoters MCD tweeted that tickets for both shows in Dublin’s O2 Arena in September had sold out.
Tickets for the first concert sold out in minutes and, due to phenomenal demand, a second date was added.
The band announced last month that they would be heading out on the road this autumn, a decade after their last album, Say You Will.
The band will perform at the O2 on Friday, Sept 20, and Saturday, Sept 21, and some of the tickets are already being sold on for inflated prices. Tickets for the concerts were priced from €65.45 to €106.
Meanwhile, an O2 spokesperson confirmed that tickets for Beyonce’s two Dublin performances at the O2 in May went on sale through the mobile phone operator’s priority ticketing service yesterday. The pre-sale tickets sold out in 15 minutes. Tickets go on general release on Monday, priced from €74 to €94.
The Mrs Carter Show World Tour will hit Dublin on May 11 and 12. It is Beyonce’s first tour since she took a year off after the birth of her daughter, Blue Ivy, and follows her half-time performance at the Super Bowl on Sunday.
