Up to 20 in new beef groups

Beef discussion groups in the new technology adoption programme can have up to 20 members each.

The groups will be formed by facilitators in mid-March.

Application is required each of the three years of the programme.

The 2012 closing date is Wednesday, March 7 for Form BTAP1 to be submitted to a local group facilitator (see facilitator list at www.agriculture.gov.ie).

Members must also have applied to join ICBF HerdPlus by March 7.

Beef finishers must be in or have applied to join the BQAS before March 7 — or have finished at least 15 cattle in 2011, and be a BQAS member by October 31. Dairy Efficiency Programme members are ineligible.

Applicants may nominate one joint farm operator (on the application form) to attend meetings.

Details are on the www.teagasc.ie or www.agriculture.gov.ie sites.
