Pee-wee Herman’s next adventure is moving forward, it has been revealed.
A new film featuring star Paul Reubens as the bow tie-clad character from stage, TV and movies has been in the pipeline for some time, and it has now been confirmed that it is headed for Netflix.
The online video company said the film will be called Pee-wee’s Big Holiday and will feature Pee-wee taking his first ever vacation after meeting a mysterious stranger.
Knocked Up filmmaker Judd Apatow is on board as a producer and John Lee is set to direct the film, with production due to begin this year.
Paul first created Pee-wee in the 1980s when he was a member of the Groundlings improv group.
The actor and comedian has played the oddball man-child on television and in feature films, including Tim Burton’s 1985 comedy Pee-wee’s Big Adventure.
