It has emerged that 98% of Irish chickens are believed to contain dangerous bacteria.

A recent study by the European Food Safety Authority study found a high level of the bacteria Campylo-bacter in poultry carcasses in slaughter plants throughout Europe.

But Irish chicken had the second highest incidence of the bacteria - which can cause acute gastroenteritis - among 26 EU countries.
