THE owners of this shore-front property at Rossmore, Durrus, have moved closer to the village, prompting the sale of this immaculate three-bed. It’s far from the stripped-pine style of other west Cork offerings — this is a house with luxe extras, like a sauna and stand-alone barbecue house.
Located on the shoreline at Rossmore, the house is near enough to the village, but far enough for splendid isolation.
It’s in great condition, says Elaine Spillane, of Peninsula Properties, and its sale is part of a trend in remote west Cork. The downturn has seen a number of sales, as retirees relocate back to Britain and the Continent, while others find being closer to a town makes more sense as they get older. This means a regular steam of sales, in the Sheep’s Head area particularly.
This house, at Rossmore, straddles both worlds in that it’s near to the village, but offers quality, turnkey accommodation. No renovation costs, just the purchase price of €395,000.
The house has superb sea views over Dunmanus Bay and stands on 0.75 acres of well-maintained gardens. It has two large living rooms, three bedrooms and two bathrooms. The living space is clean and modern, with wooden floors, French doors, and picture windows to make the most of the views. The kitchen is fitted in white with black-granite worktops. The property is ideal as a first, or second home, says Elaine Spillane, and is just across the road from the beach, which is at the end of the garden.
