Hot deal in Ovens, it’s a high five (bed)

SET in a small cluster of about a half dozen detached family houses either side of a stretch of what’s known as Casey’s Road, is this well-sized and very well kept home, Red Gables, a red-brick bungalow, over 2,600 sq ft, and with five bedrooms.

The single storey home, now a few decades old and on a landscaped garden on one-third of an acre, is both well tended and well-presented with a warm feel thanks to lots of timber.

Ms Healy guides Red Gables at €695,000 and notes that the area, a short commute west of Cork city and Ballincollig, is in strong demand, with keen prices paid, due to proximity to Ballincollig and its strong employment base, as well as Dell/EMC and VM Ware’s considerable presence in the hinterland.

(The house sale comes as Sherry FitzGerald’s commercial property wing, Cushman & Wakefield, puts much of the Ballincollig Barrack Square Office campus up for sale as an investments.

The complex of buildings being sold, over 100,000 sq ft in all and fully let with VMWare as the main occupier, comprises most of the office component in Ballincollig’s town centre redevelopment and earns over €2m pa in rent.

Meanwhile, back on the one-off, private residential front, Red Gables is on Casey’s Road, near Éire Óg’s GAA pitches, with a strong local community identity and range of services and amenities, says Ms Healy, and is close to national schools, buses and other sports facilities, as well as being just at the end of the Ballincollig bypass, for easy access back to the city centre.
