Market stable but no recovery

Tuesday, February 09, 2010

THE Irish market held steady yesterday, but failed to make any inroads into the heavy losses seen last Friday.

Many other European bourses did however, see a small rally. The ISEQ index gained 12.32 points to close at 2,902.43.

Banks were mixed with heavyweights AIB and Bank of Ireland showing minor pluses. The former added on 3c to €1.12 with the latter adding 3c to €1.22. Irish Life and Permanent bucked the trend losing 7.3c to finish the session at €3.02.

Construction stocks were equally unpredictable as CRH Group moved on 18c to €16.92. Grafton Group remained stable at €2.60 while Kingspan lost 7.8c to €5.77.
