SOME 70 jobs will be announced for Cork this morning with the opening of two firms.
Credit risk analysis firm Rockboro Analytics is creating 50 jobs over five years.
It is understood that there was major competition among locations in Europe on where to base the firm but the company chose Cork based in-part on the availability of a talented and committed workforce. It is working with UCC and CIT to source the best graduates for its firm.
The primary focus at Rockboro Analytics is on providing credit risk assessments to help credit sensitive organisation make decisions on managing credit risk arising from their day to day business particularly in low default or "hard to rate" sectors.
The company’s managing director is former Standard & Poor’s employee and Cork native Bernard O’Sullivan. Also involved with the firm is former Ernst & Young partner Larry O’Dwyer.
The company will be looking for graduates in all areas and will be sourcing people with analytical skills. Directors at the firm have been impressed with the "entrepreneurial spirt" in Cork.
Meanwhile, a further 20 jobs are to be created in Co Cork by a global provider of comprehensive messaging services and e-commerce solutions.
EasyLink Services International Corporation is to establish a European headquarters in Clonakilty. Last year EasyLink acquired the messaging services from Premiere Global Services and as a result of this transaction the company now has over 30,000 customers on five continents.
The Clonakilty operation will include its finance and accounting team along with the existing team of 25 customer support staff who formerly worked for Premiere.
Minister for Research and Innovation, Seán Sherlock said: "Easylink’s location in Cork will boost employment in the region while further adding to the reputation of Cork as a leading location for global services operations."
