New Telefonica/02 chief executive

TONY HANWAY has been appointed chief executive of Telefonica/O2 Ireland. He replaces Stephen Shurrock, who only took up the role late last year.

Mr Shurrock will now join Telefonica’s London-headquartered digital business unit, as global chief commercial officer, as part of the Spanish group’s reorganisation.

Mr Hanway has been with O2 Ireland for six years, having previously worked with O2’s parent, Telefonica, in the Czech Republic and has, lately, filled the role of consumer sales director.
