Dublin: Finance Minister Brian Lenihan will select Ann Nolan as head of banking policy as the Government continues its efforts to aid lenders.
Nolan will lead the financial services division at the ministry, a spokesman said.
The appointment will be announced next week and Ms Nolan will replace Kevin Cardiff, who was appointed secretary general of the ministry earlier this year.
Ms Nolan was responsible for overseeing the National Asset Management Agency (NAMA) to purge lenders of €80 billion worth of toxic real-estate loans.
