Dublin: Mobile TV developer Solaris Mobile has teamed up with two French firms to pioneer trials of its product that uses satellite transmissions to stream content to hand-held devices.
It has teamed up with Alcatel-Lucent and Towercast for the trials and created a hybrid network combining satellite, TV and mobile technologies.
This network is on pilot in France, allowing TV transmission to be sent at real-time satellite speeds to mobile devices, faster than 3G data services could possibly provide.
