The Irish Hospital Consultants Association's national council is to meet later this morning to discuss pay elements of their contracts with the State.
A cut in consultants' pay was announced in the Budget on Wednesday.
Those who earn more than €200,000 will see their pay cut by 15%, those under that level will be cut 12%.
The Association claims that binding contracts could be breached by the reductions.
