Man misses moose only to hit a bear

A Norwegian motorist who swerved to avoid a moose drove into a bear.

The driver tried to go around the moose when he was travelling on a country road near Hanestad, north of Oslo, but he didn't notice the other huge beast who was lurking to the right of his route.

The driver escaped unhurt, but neither his car nor the bear were quite so lucky.

Svein Erik Bjorke, of the local wildlife authority, believes the beast may have internal injuries.

He said: “The driver had lost a bit of speed as he tried to avoid the moose before hitting the bear.

“We are currently tracking the bear and we have found traces of blood indicating internal injuries.”
