Latest: Man arrested in connection with fatal late-night assault in Derry

Update 2.15pm: An 18-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a teenager died in Derry this morning.

A 19-year-old man was reportedly beaten up in the William Street area, he was taken to hospital where he died a short time later.

The man is currently in custody at Strand Road PSNI Station.


A 19-year-old man has died after an attack in Derry this morning.

The teenager was assaulted by another man at around 2am in the William Street area.

The victim was seriously injured during the assault and taken to hospital but died from his injuries a short time later.

Police in the North are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
