Union calls off day of action at Mercy Hospital

Members of the IMPACT trade union have decided not to strike at Mercy Hospital in Cork on Tuesday because of flooding at the hospital.

The union withdrew strike notice this afternoon after hospital management invoked its 'major incident plan' because of the flooding.

Under the plan, all patients are to be moved from the hospital because of the health and safety risks associated with contaminated water and exposed electricity cables.

It is understood that the INO has also withdrawn its strike notice at the hospital.
